چکیده
Ewes fed sainfoin (a source of condensed tannins “CT”) may influence the homeostasis gastrointestinal tract suckling lambs. This study investigated effects CT from in maternal diet on plasma fructosamine, faecal coccidian excretion, and gene expression immune antioxidant markers jejunum ileum Twelve Rasa Aragonesa lambs with their dams were selected. The was based fresh (SAINFOIN, n = 6) + polyethylene-glycol (SAINFOIN PEG, as a CT-binder, plus daily supplement 200 g barley both groups. A lower percentage that shed more than 10 oocysts/g faeces observed SAINFOIN compared to PEG group (p 0.07). Jejunal transforming growth factor-β1, tumour necrosis factor-α, glutathione peroxidase (GPX) 1 4 < 0.05). In contrast, ileal catalase GPX2 increased Overall, results suggest presence dams’ diets has positive effect reducing excreted oocysts favours antioxidant-immune crosstalk at gut level

The effect of sainfoin (Onobrychis viciifolia) hay consumption on the pathophysiology and local cellular responses of growing lambs during infection with Trichostrongylus colubriformis was investigated. Thirty-two lambs, 16 weeks of age, were allocated to 1 of 4 treatment groups (n=8) that were offered either grass (G) or sainfoin (S) hay while concurrently either infected (+), or not (-) with ...

Research in ruminant nutrition and helminth control with forages, which contain condensed tannins (CT), suggests that varying responses may depend not only on CT concentration but also on CT composition. An experiment was designed to test this by feeding 2 dried sainfoin cultivars (Visnovsky and Perly), which differed in CT properties, to lambs that were artificially infected with the abomasal ...
متن کاملEffect of bioactive compounds from Sainfoin ( Onobrychis viciifolia Scop.) on the in vitro larval migration of Haemonchus contortus: role of tannins and flavonol glycosides.
Anthelmintic bioactivity against gastrointestinal nematodes has been associated with leguminous forages supporting the hypothesis of a role of condensed tannins. However, the possibility that other compounds might also been involved has received less consideration. Using bio-guided fractionation, the current study aimed at characterizing the biochemical nature of the active compounds present in...
متن کاملNitrogen and mineral balance of lambs artificially infected with Haemonchus contortus and fed tanniferous sainfoin (Onobrychis viciifolia).
Tanniferous temperate legumes are assumed to possess anthelmintic properties, but it is unclear whether this is the direct result of condensed tannins (CT) or is mediated indirectly via an improved metabolic protein supply. A metabolism experiment was conducted to differentiate between these factors by feeding the CT plant sainfoin (19.7% CP in DM) to lambs infected with the abomasal blood-suck...

To explore the potential of in vitro rapid regeneration, three varieties (Golpaygan-181, Orumieh-1763, and Gorgan-1601) of sainfoin (Onobrychis viciifolia Scop. syn. Onobrychis sativa L.) were evaluated. For the first time, an encapsulation protocol was established from somatic embryogenic callus in torpedo and cotyledonary stages to create artificial seeds. Callus derived from different concen...
